Accessibility
What we have done to make this website usable for everyone, and how to tell us when it falls short.
Draft — pending review
This document is plain-English boilerplate prepared for the site build. It has not been reviewed by a legal professional and should be checked against applicable Indian law before the site goes live.
Our aim
This website has been built to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at Level AA where practical.
Accessibility was treated as part of building the site rather than as a later addition.
What has been done
- Text and background combinations have been measured against the WCAG AA thresholds (4.5:1 for normal text, 3:1 for large text) and meet them.
- The site can be operated with a keyboard, and a high-contrast focus outline is shown on every control reached by keyboard.
- A "Skip to main content" link is the first item in the tab order on every page.
- Headings follow a proper hierarchy, and pages use semantic landmarks so screen readers can navigate them.
- Every form control has a real, visible label, and errors are announced rather than shown only in colour.
- Meaningful images have descriptive alternative text; decorative images are hidden from assistive technology.
- Interactive controls meet the WCAG 2.2 minimum target size of 24 by 24 pixels, and primary controls such as buttons, menu items and form fields are larger than that. Short inline links inside a sentence follow the standard’s inline exception.
- Layouts are fluid and reflow without horizontal scrolling down to a 320px viewport.
- The site respects the "reduce motion" setting in your operating system.
- Status messages, such as form errors and confirmations, are announced to assistive technology.
Known limitations
We would rather state these plainly than claim the site is finished.
- This statement has not yet been verified by an independent accessibility audit, and no testing with assistive-technology users has been carried out. The checks above were made during development.
- Photography on the site is currently stand-in imagery, labelled “Illustrative image”. Alternative text will be revised when clinic photography replaces it.
- The appointment and contact forms are not yet connected to a delivery address, so submissions are not currently received by the clinic. Please call the clinic instead until this is confirmed.
- An interactive map is not yet embedded on the contact page. The full address is published in text, and a Google Maps link is provided for directions.
- A Google Maps embed may be added to the contact page in future. Third-party embeds are not fully within our control, and a text address and directions will always be provided alongside it.
